On Friday 24th January 2025 everyone at Mauldeth Medical Centre will say their last goodbye to Dr Caprio, he was the most dedicated GP to his patients he would go far and beyond to help anyone in need, since Dr Caprio's passing we have had many patients tell us how special he was and I'm sure everyone who met him will feel the same. There are not too many GP's left like Dr Caprio (if any) he was a very special doctor and also a respected colleague and friend to everyone at Mauldeth Medical and the wider community. We will miss Dr Caprio he will never be forgotten RIP

Dr Caprio was our family doctor for many years and I remember attending his practice within his Heaton Moor home (we lived 2 doors away), before he moved to Burnage.
Lots of nice memories and I remember his being interviewed on tv after City’s cup final victory in 1976. I think he’d just put stitches in Dave Watsons forehead.
Sad news but happy memories:-)

My Mum worked for Dr Caprio and his wife Sheila for many years. I had a Sunday job cleaning their cars when they lived in Heaton Moor. I remember as a young lad in the 70's being taken to Man City at Main Road by Dr Caprio to meet the team before the game in the changing rooms. Dr Caprio was at the time the Man City Doctor. Meeting the team and watching the game from the directors box as a young lad was the most exciting things I have ever done.
We also won 5-1... !
Over the years Dr Caprio and the family always showed so much kindness to my Mum and the family. When my Mum passed away in 2006 Dr Caprio insisted on paying for the wake. I will always remember the kindness shown.

Dr Caprio was much loved by the officers of the C Division in Greater Manchester Police (and I can confidently say across the whole of GMP) for many years. He would always make time for a catch up (when he turned out to Longsight and other police custody offices and the Mortuary on Rachel Street near Mayfair Station), no matter what time of day and night and was courteous to a fault with whomever he met. A kind and caring man with a razor sharp wit - a lot of those people in custody were violent and aggressive yet Dr C could always disarm them with his gentle charm and winning smile. His professionalism was always a constant and his role very often not a pleasant one but he always showed humanity and a beautifully timed humour. I shared the sad news with colleagues from the 1990's yesterday and the response was quite overwhelming; he was a truly highly respected Doctor and man who will be greatly missed and was much admired. "Can I get you a brew Doc?"
With sincere condolences and love to all Dr C's family from us all X

I had the great pleasure of working with Dr Caprio and the team at Mauldeth Medical Centre, during the 1990’s.

Dr Caprio was the epitome of the traditional family doctor - the ultimate professional with the knowledge, expertise and unwavering commitment to ensure patients and their families had the very best care. Equally, he was always so kind, supportive, respectful and caring of colleagues both past and present.

Without doubt his unwavering approach, support and encouragement shaped my career. I am so very grateful for our recent visits together - the opportunity to reminisce and to express my appreciation and heartfelt gratitude.

Such a sad loss, but never to be forgotten.

With much love and sincere condolences to Sheila, Lisa and family.

I remember Dr Caprio attending Grey Mare Lane Police Station 20+ years ago to see the detainees we had in custody. He was always non judgemental, cheerful and above all a thoroughly decent man.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
